An under counter Water Filter is almost a must these days. If you do alot of cooking or you are the type of home owner who likes to drink from the spout it may be a great idea to install one of these under the counter water filter systems in your kitchen.
A filter may not only protect you from harmful bacteria and impurities but also improve the taste of your water whether it be well water or city water. Water filters have come along way as far as ease of installation and functionality of the filter.
Depending on your water quality and your plumbing pipes you should always replace your filter cartridges according to the manufactures directions along with some common sense. One way to know you need to change your filter is if the water pressure starts to be reduced at your kitchen faucet. Another is dirty water or smelly water coming from your filtered water faucet.
Each filter has a micron rating which determines the particle size that will be trapped by the filter, the smaller the rating the smaller the trapped particle. There could be a downside to this and that is if there is poor supply water pressure and a small micron rating filter is used this could result in unacceptable pressure drop leading to less than optimal pressure at your plumbing faucet, this is why each filtration system must be designed by a professional.
I would suggest doing some research on various under the counter water filters that are available, for more information on clean drinking water here is a list of different filter Manufactures I have used.
